Trauma Screening and Response

In this module, participants will be introduced to the nuanced process of identifying and addressing medical trauma among patients. The curriculum will provide guidance on the optimal timing and methodologies for screening patients for a history of medical trauma. A significant emphasis will be placed on the art of compassionate communication, particularly in scenarios following a patient’s disclosure of medical PTSD. Participants will also navigate the delicate balance between the obligations of mandatory reporting and respecting patient autonomy. Furthermore, the module will address the crucial considerations to bear in mind when documenting medical trauma in patient records, ensuring both accuracy and sensitivity.
